2017-18 Fall/Winter

This is the fourth time I am trying to condense the upcoming season’s women’s wear trends. And it is interesting to see that most trends don’t last one season only. When browsing the high street shops, style magazines and my favorite brands’ newsletters, I came to realize that many of the trending items I identified last year, were still pretty omnipresent this year. Of course I would like to tap myself on the shoulder being so successful at picking just those pieces that were popular enough that people are expected to want to wear them again this year. However this post should not just be a repetition of last year, so here are the new must haves for this years’ winter outfit, small spoiler: I love so many pieces this season, I really am excited and cannot wait to wear them!

Here are my must-haves for your casual fall/winter look:

Jumper, Hallhuber from Euro 79.95, Marinahoermanseder.com strap leggings from Euro 199,00, Givenchy boots at e.g. Neiman Marcus.

  • Jumpers and tops with appliqué beads: I know this is not for everyone but I.LOVE.IT!! Already bought two of them. Stitched on or carefully embedded in a knitting patterns, shiny white beads add a bit of glamour to the average knitted or wool sweater (e.g. multiple options at Zara, also Hallhuber). So cute!!
  • (Leather) leggings with applications: Marina Hoermanseder does the most amazing ones featuring her characteristic buckles.
  • Leather studded ankle boots: but if that is too much for you, simple pointed black ankle boots will be just fine (e.g. cheap version on asos.us , the real deal from Givenchy at Neiman Marcus – so popular they are currently sold out).
  • Plus: a faux fur coat: I love the short teddy brown vintage style but also adore my colleague’s purple bomber jacket version with a hood. I already considered getting one last year, but this year it is finally a priority item on my list (e.g. asos allows you to choose from all possible design and color options; really pretty ones with hood at missguided.eu).

In a nutshell: leather bottom pieces are still eye catchers and and can be combined with a slogan shirt and an oversize jeans jacket. Oversize wool/cashmere jumpers also still do the trick. A cool pair of jeans comes with rough cut off ends, treated and depending on your preferences with appliqué beads. There are also some new and season-typical fabrics and patterns back on the shelves: For work, get a checked dress or suit (e.g. from Banana Republic), for your Christmas party, a velvet gown (e.g. &other stories, or Zara). Enjoy the shopping spree 🙂
